As a newborn photographer my working day involves listening to the amazing miracle of birth stories while I shoot. I’ve heard the good, the bad and the ugly and each story is wonderful and special. Recently I had the pleasure of taking newborn portraits of beautiful baby Ruby who was born at home in Hertford after a very quick 25 minute labour! Read on to find out her mum’s secret! The key to a positive birth? I met Ruby’s mum, Lynn at a networking event in Hertford in her capacity as a Hypnobirthing instructor at the Wise Hippo http://www.thewisehippo.com/directory/hertfordshire
Lynn obviously put all of her techniques into practice whilst pregnant with Ruby and had a wonderfully positive birth experience, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Hypno-birthing teaches pregnant mums how to relax and dispel their fears or negative thoughts around delivery and birth – but more about that in a future post.
Quote from Ruby’s mum “Although Ruby was keen to enter the world as fast as she could, she is the most relaxed and calm baby. She has completed our world and having such an amazing home birth was the icing on the cake”
Lynn brought Ruby and her three-year-old twin sisters, Maisie and Miley to my newborn photography studio in Wheathampstead when Ruby was 10 days old for her first baby photography session. My newborn portrait style is natural and relaxed, concentrating on all of those wonderful tiny features you can’t stop staring at when you bring a new life into the world
Lynne and the girls enjoyed picking out some beautiful headbands and blankets during the session, while dad, helped keep Ruby safe during the more complex poses which require editing (read more about this here)
No newborn photography session is complete without family portraits. This is such a special moment for me as a photographer. Babies come to me so early in their life that quite often the family portrait I shoot is the very first time they have all stood together as a family and marked the milestone of being joined by their brand new babySo this is where we leave Ruby and her family for now. If you are pregnant and would like beautiful images of your newborn to treasure please book early. Many of my clients pencil their newborn portrait session as soon as they have had their 20 week scan. To find out more please click here.
